Staring this Sunday a new Adult Sunday School class on the book "Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life" by Donald S. Whitney

The first part of Immanuel's vision statement says, "We seek to know and love God"... Knowing God and loving God is not an optional part of our life; it is the Christian life.  Jesus said, "This is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3).  This relationship begins when we come alive to God and coming alive to God happens when we spend time with Him.  In other words, we are called to pursue godliness by practicing Spiritual disciplines out of gratitude and love for God.  This book gives us a clear insight to biblical practices that will enable us to know God deeper and richer.

Donald Whitney illustrates through this book why the disciplines are important, showing how each one will help you grow in godliness, also offering practical suggestions for cultivating them.  "Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life" will provide you with a refreshing opportunity to become more like Christ and grow in character and maturity.  I would recommend this book as a great opportunity for Immanuel to start fresh to align our lives with the life of Christ.

This class will be held in the Capernaum room.  There will be no homework and whether you choose to follow the book or not, this is a class for all to attend.  Come as you are and join anytime.
