2017 Fall Adult Sunday School Classes

James/1 Peter/2 Peter

Have you considered going more in depth with God's Word?  Perhaps now is the time for you to begin to dig in.  In the fall semester we will be looking at James and 1 and 2 Peter.  James is perhaps the earliest of the New Testament writings.  We will discuss how these leaders of the young church sought to maintain the integrity of the gospel and to encourage believers in a time of persecution by both the Jews and the Romans.

The Trinity

"Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10) This fall we will humbly attempt to do that through studying the doctrine of the Trinity which helps us learn with greater precision—that God is love. The doctrine of the Trinity is taught and believed by all evangelicals, but rarely is it fully understood or celebrated. The Trinity is a central concern of evangelical theology since it is grounded in the gospel itself. Our plan, prayer, and hope is that we will explore together and individually realize that the Trinity has massive implications for our lives, restoring depth to prayer, worship, Bible study, missions, tradition, and understanding of Christianity’s fundamental doctrines.

Marriage Class: “What Did You Expect?”

DVD series based on conference presentation of “What Did You Expect?” by Paul David Tripp.  The class will feature a 25 minute video followed by review and discussion.

Here are some excerpts from the overview:

It won’t take long for you to be disappointed in marriage. The reality is that you can’t escape the brokenness of this world. You won’t be able to avoid the sin of your spouse.  The Bible teaches that we all bring something destructive into our relationships – sin. We buy into the delusion that our biggest problem is outside of us. We rarely take seriously the nature of our own sin.  Unlike other marriage conferences that only diagnose horizontal problems, What Did You Expect? fights a much deeper war over the worship of our heart. It’s only when we worship God as Creator, Sovereign and Savior that we will ever love as we should.

What Did You Expect? challenges you to look into the mirror of God’s Word and see yourself with clarity. Maybe it’s you. Maybe you love yourself more than your spouse. Maybe you love your little kingdom more than God’s big Kingdom. When you reach that level of honesty, you’re at the edge of real good things for your marriage.
